A little help on the course.
Golfdar records golf shots, draws experimental tracers and highlights possible golf balls. Here is how to get help and stay in control of your footage.
Talk to the developer
Include your iPhone model, iOS version, Golfdar version and what you expected to happen. You can also send feedback from TestFlight. Do not include your Apple password, tester password or private pairing file.
Installing and testing
Golfdar is currently an invitation-only TestFlight beta for iPhone with iOS 27 or later. Install Apple's TestFlight app and open the invitation from your tester email. Availability depends on Apple accepting the beta build and the developer enabling it for your group.
Core recording and recognition work without a Golfdar account. Recognition and distance estimates are experimental; inspect suggested balls yourself and keep clear of the line of play.
Camera and microphone
Allow camera access for capture and ball finding. Microphone access is optional and helps detect the sound of impact; audio is not recorded or uploaded. If you declined a permission, open iPhone Settings → Apps → Golfdar to change it. Use manual recording controls if impact detection is unavailable.
Optional training footage
Training collection is off by default in the distributed app. Save finds for training keeps a short rolling set of camera frames and saves it when you tap Found it. Pairing selects a receiving Mac; Transfer now or enabling automatic transfers authorizes sending saved finds there.
Remote transfer works through the Golfdar server. Keep Golfdar open while transferring. A sleeping or offline Mac can collect later; the phone keeps its copy until the Mac confirms receipt. Donated footage is used only to train and validate Golfdar's golf-ball recognition model, supplementing existing training material with real-world examples. It is reviewed before training and deleted from working storage after the training run has completed and been verified. Unusable footage is discarded.
Stop sharing or request deletion
Turn off collection and automatic transfer in the app. Stop transfer cancels an active search transfer. Capture settings → Cancel pending uploads, or Sign out, stops pending shot uploads in the current privacy update. On an older beta, stop using uploads and contact us for assistance.
Delete local training samples in Capture settings, or remove saved folders in Files → On My iPhone → Golfdar. This does not recall files already received by the server or a Mac.
Request removal of Golfdar data →. Include your tester email, approximate capture date and any shot or find identifier available. We can help identify it without a pairing credential.
